Monkey Junk & Friends

Canada

The phrase, 3 GUYS - ONE HELL OF A RACKET! opens the band’s website.  That “racket” has earned the band 23 Maple Blues Awards, 2 Indy Awards, 1 USA Blues Music Award, and 2 Juno Awards (Canada’s equivalent of a Grammy.) The band is also a 2022 Maple Blues Awards nominee in the Electric Act of the Year category.  The true measure of the “Sultans of Swamp R&B” lies in the band’s live performances. The Ontario-based, internationally acclaimed trio plays Music for the City on their musical journey with a sound that’s described as a “contemporary blend of swamp R&B, soul boogie, and bedroom funk.”

Paul Reddick

Canada

Special guest, Paul Reddick, is also a veteran PwF performer and acclaimed Canadian music mainstay. The esteemed blues singer, songwriter, and harmonica player was awarded the 2017 Blues Album of the Year after four previous nominations in the category.  Renowned for his intense and hypnotic performances, Paul Reddick has developed a loyal following among both his fans and musical peers and continues to be one of the most compelling performers on the Canadian music scene.  Dubbed the ‘Poet Laureate of the Blues,’ Paul created the annual Cobalt Prize for Contemporary Blues Composition in 2014, which encourages the growth and vitality of the genre. His latest album, Alive in Italia serves as a reflective retrospective of his long, storied, boundary-breaking songwriting career, which spans 10 previous albums — including the 2016 Juno Award-winning Best Blues Album Ride The One.

David Gogo (Solo)

Die-hard Playing with Fire fans will remember Canadian “King of Boogie” David Gogo’s performance at an early riverfront concert in 2006. He definitely left an impression! Lauded by critics and fans alike, David Gogo has six JUNO Award nominations, has been named Guitarist of The Year three times at the Maple Blues Awards, was named Musician of The Year at the West Coast Music Awards, won Blues Recording Of The Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, and received the Great Canadian Blues Award for his lifetime contribution to the blues in Canada as voted by the listeners of CBC's Saturday Night Blues. Gogo is nominated for the 2022 Maple Blues Awards in the categories of Entertainer of the Year, and along with Steve Mariner, Acoustic Act of the Year.  By the time he performs at MFTC, we may have to celebrate with him.
