Dear PwF Family and Friends,

Life is a game of give and take — some days are a little better than others but we all have a choice to make the best of what we’re given. Right? Certainly, the past year and a half haven’t been without its obstacles for any one of you and we are right there with you!

A couple of weeks ago we were relieved to announce Playing with Fire Free Summer Concerts was back and excited to present an extraordinary eclectic line-up assembled for our fans. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, PwF free concerts series is no longer on the books for this summer. We know, we know. We know you are ready to gather (safely) with your family and friends, we know you are craving to create timeless experiences together and want, even need, live music concerts. Well, when life gives you lemons you grab those sour babies and crush them into a sweet delicious drink, and that’s exactly what we’ve done. You didn’t think we would let you go ANOTHER year without your summer music fix, did you?

This year….. Playing with Fire presents a new sister concert series, MUSIC FOR THE CITY! Everything you know and love about PwF, music with the same great vibe, just smaller with a little more chill. We’re still talking about 3 different dates with numerous different artists all right here in Homaha. We want to give a BIG thank you to The Dam Bar @ Millers Landing for hosting this event and working with us to keep the music alive. As always this is a free event (donations always accepted) for all ages. Keep watching for updates and cool news as the PwF team is pounding away assembling all you need to know. Can’t wait? Check out the new website at musicforthecity.net

“I was taught to think the next week or month or year will only get better than it is today. So I just keep waiting to see how great it will get!” – Stevie Ray Vaughan Looking forward to the next weeks and months, we couldn’t be more thrilled about what’s to come. Music for the City is a product of hard work and preparation that we have had the pleasure of creating for the Omaha music scene. Every artist that will be taking the MFTC stage has gone through a very intentional process. That’s why we wanted to take the next weeks and months to talk about this hand picked music offering we get to share with all of you! Omaha is a city full of vibrant and tasteful art with a dash of weird (in a good way!) You can find music ranging from blues, rock, soul, and indie any given night of the week and welcomed with inviting crowds from the first show to the last. One of the artists that we have found to bridge all of those genres and propel the Omaha music scene forward is none other than Hector Anchondo. Hector recently entered the 2020 Blues Challenge in the solo/duo category and took home the top prize. His music finds a way to make the blood pump from his full entourage of band mates down to his stripped down solo shows. You can always count on picking up one or two jaws off the floor every time Hector takes the stage and you can always count on leaving with memories that will last a lifetime. Hector is not a stranger to hard work and persistence and has been a beacon for the Omaha music scene. One of the many great things about him is his genuine willingness to not only share his musical knowledge with up and coming artists in the area, but also understand and acknowledge the wants and needs of his audience to bring an authentic original performance each and every time. After Hector won the 2020 ICB he had this to say. “I’m really exploring my guitar playing and letting go to try and become the best musician and entertainer that I can possibly be. This win is for everyone that has stuck with and supported me, never gave up on me and believed in me.” I hope you’re as excited as we are to see what Hector Anchando has in store for us July 24th at Music for the City.
